You recognize the issue so that's good and depression is a normal part of the disease at least for me. I had to surrender to the fact I cannot drink like other people. One is never enough. Once I did that and made a firm resolution I started AA. I'll have 6 weeks in a few days. You can do it but in general we can't change our own warped thinking with our own warped thinking. Sometimes we need outside help and that's OK.
Welcome. Drag yourself to an AA meeting. Miracles will happen
Thanks, Jennifer. I will def be attending a meeting this week.
Congratulations on six weeks Kelly, amazing and I can’t wait to say the same. I’m working on getting help. It’s finally sinking in that I do need help and to take that help seriously. I think that’s going to change the game for me.
MyMy, welcome
I know that feeling all to well my friend. Feeling of despair .
Alcoholics Anonymous has helped me get through some difficult times. It’s helped me help myself and now I’m helping others.
First thing I had to do was admit I was powerless over alcohol and my life had become unmanageable. Step one.
Sounds like you just might have this step down.
Next I had to listen to those in the meetings talk about their problems and their solution to their problems…
Then I was ready to get a sponsor. But it took me along time to complete the steps. I’m sure glad I did. And so are the handful of alcoholics I’ve helped… it’s not about me anymore. It’s about who I can help or what can I bring to the table…
I hope you can get to a meeting today. Sit in the front row. Listen and come back again the next day.
ODAAT.
Thank you, Terri!
Perfect - thank you!
What a great recommendation, thanks Joe. I definitely struggle with feeling good enough for love so this is one that may help me believe I am.
Caroline I love this. I am thinking of a long walk each day, no matter how sad low, just to get my body moving again.
Thank you, Ryan. Here is to bright days ahead. I like the awareness that we are growing a new mind, it makes so much sense.
Hi John, yes that is so valid. A good perspective to keep the overwhelm in control. Relax, stay sober for today. Repeat.
Well said, Kevin. Couldn’t agree more!
Awesome! I have tried for years. I can only stay sober with the help of the program. I'm excited for you. You'll be at 6 weeks in no time!
Thanks, Kelly!
Get to a meeting. Raise your hand, introduce yourself and ask for help. You are not alone. Sending prayers to you
