Today marks the 11 year anniversary of my fiancés death and this is the first time I’m working through it sober. Also our struggle is not identical, there are similarities and what I’ve learned from the unbelievable loss is that without it, I may not have experienced the two miracle children that I do have. Throughout life there are going to be good days and days you feel like you literally cannot function, we do not choose which days they are or how often we experience them. What we do choose is how we get through them.

Hold strong, hold your children, and hold your head up high for working through this incredibly hard day sober.

We let go of the life we thought we were to live and then we can live the life our higher power wants us to live. Embrace recovery and don’t try to figure it out.

I am sorry for the loss you went through. And I appreciate your kind words. And yes I know what you mean by how certain things, leading to other things. Like a painful door shutting & then a beautiful door opening. Is that what you mean in a sense ???

Hey sister, I'm glad you're here. I'm sorry to hear of your pain, I know it must hurt and depression is the pits. For me, doing very small things that I enjoy or am glad to have done helps with depression a lot. Coking an omelette, doing a load of laundry, walking for a bit with my dogs, reading a chapter in a book, mowing the grass.. pretty much anything, and even if I don't feel like doing it it still helps.
