Hey y’all - I am new to the space and looking for a community/ a couple of friends that I can share my journey with. Not too many people in my life can relate to this journey so I’m having a hard time connecting. I’ve got 120 days and I’m at the point where the new has worn off and I feel a plateau coming on. Just throwing the feelers out there! So, you wana be friends?
Welcome Kristen, congrats on 120 days! You could be hit the last of what I was told is the pink cloud phase. This last between 1-6 months in the beginning of sobriety. I rode mine for as long as I could. But the next phase wasn’t fun, but going to meetings and really engaging into spiritual part of sobriety helped to keep me sober. I’m here if you need anything. Ask questions. Get a sponsor. Work the steps of AA. Find your higher power. I find mine, G0d.
Hi Kristen.
Finding the higher power has been on my mind lately. If you have any literature you’d recommend, I would be open to it! Thank you for the welcome. I really appreciate it.
Hello Kristen!!!! Congratulations on your 120 days. Lotta hard work nice job keep going you’ll get stronger. I’ll be your friend if you want. I know how you’re feeling about The people in your life not understanding. But you’re in the right place define people that do understand. So welcome to the family. Stick around because it gets better
Hey I’m right where you are in my recovery I have had such a profound change in my life with sobriety things are good but I would like to work through this with someone at the same stage in their recovery so it was cool that I saw your post hope you are well
Welcome
You’re welcome Kristen and good morning. Another day we start sober. This is where it’s at!
As for finding your higher power, it’s an experience of ones own understanding. For me I’ve had a lot of this spiritual awakenings very early on in sobriety. From hearing a message at group therapy or at a meeting to finding a book in a recycling can. It’s these simple but powerful message that I believe are from my spirit guides. The book I found that changed my life is called “Living By Grace” by Joel S. Goldsmith. Since that book I’ve read about 4 others of his and have a few more to go. Another one I’m reading is Angel message by Maudy Fowler and Gail Hunt. I believe they have a couple books out. “Inspirational Notes from Loved Ones” is the one I’m ready now.
Another great text book is AA’s Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. It’s very inspiring and teaches us a new way to live. I love AA!
I love that you’re open minded about the G0d and spirituality.
Have a wonderful day filled with love and peace within my friend.
This is exactly where you belong. We all know what you’ve been through and have similar stories. Plus I get amazing advice on here. So hello friend
I am new one here also starting my recovery all over again today
Thank you for taking your time to respond. I will check these out!
I hope you had a great day
Thanks Kelly!
That’s awesome! I like to know how others are navigating through. At this point not too many people know I’ve quit but as it comes up I just decline the drink and move on. But also finding that some people are shocked I made it this long. Lol true testament of how I was in the past.
You’re very welcome
I’m glad to be of service.
Hello Kris I'm 7 days behind you at 113. Everyone I know knows my problem so they don't offer. It does make it easier to socialize. Best of luck and don't ever let me catch up to you lol
