Hi my name is Gigi I have been drinking for about 4 years now. I desperately want to stop but don’t know how to. I want to surrender but don’t know how to or how one goes about doing it. I am not trying to sound stupid but how did you all surrender? I have tried other recovery groups and hope this one is a lot nicer and understanding.

Hi Gigi I am new here too but I have 5 1/2 years booze free. This sounds bad, but I think it's a great sign that you are experiencing these feelings...that your relationship with alcohol isn't okay for you anymore. And you are exploring that. It all starts there. Accepting that you cannot safely drink alcohol is solely your own decision. There are many tools and we welcome you here wherever you are in your journey---five years sober or five hours sober. You are worthy of wellness!

Great news. First 3 steps towards recovery are done.
1 realize you need a change
2 want to change(this is the one that stops a lot of people)
3 ask for help.
Asking for help is so hard for us to do but when you find the right people help is a beautiful thing.
