Man I can't help it! I'm allergic to senseless phrasings in the name of "positivity" or whatever. Maybe I'm autistic.

But it literally makes no sense.

If you asked me to move a giant pile of dirt in your backyard, and I said no problem and then told you to bring a shovel, you'd be like "GTFO"

I'm down for positivity and being helpful, as long as it's practical. People are dying out here.

Yeah, but…

Let’s just say this guy and many other hopeless drunks and addicts find this helpful. No matter the reason, or your understanding of how or why it’s so. Who cares how or why it works for them. The miracle is they have found a solution to this horrific sickness. We don’t have to get it. As long as they get it. Now if they say it’s the only way… go get them tiger

The greatest part is that you have to question someone else's faith in order to feel important. Truly your words have weight but are they useful? I would rather be positive and share experience, strength, and hope. I pray that you find your value that you are searching for.

The shovel is willingness and humility.

my first thought was literally HUH??? this makes no sense :joy::joy::joy::joy:
i support that if that’s what you believe in then sure that’s your reality but i personally don’t think the same…..

ok but what is the post even saying ?? God can’t move mountains…? is it a metaphor?? The original guy tried to explain it and i still don’t get it…
I believe in many things but with addiction God is the Ego.
I want a cig, I want another drink, I, I, I.
once you stop listening to the Ego you’ll find enlightenment.
We all are referring to the same being- God, the universe, energy, higher power, angel, Jesus. honestly there could be nothing and people find comfort in that too. There’s no magical being watching down on us….

:pray:t4::pray:t4:

Idk Two :man_shrugging:t4:. Everyone can interpret anyway they like. To me the original post inferred that he puts in the day to day ordinary work, and leaves the big things up to the powers that be. Regardless, I thought Taylor’s original response was harsh. However, that’s my ego deciding what’s appropriate and what’s not lol. My .02 is now worth .01 with inflation :joy:

Here's the reality. Faith without works is dead. You can't pray for a ham sandwich and it magically appears. You do the work God handles results. We all face what seem to insurmountable task in life and with faith and work we can accomplish those big task. Literally can you move a mountain with a shovel? No so you might need some help........maybe God sends some? Take it or leave it.

These are good points.

However, WORK without FAITH is NOT dead. So if I wanted a ham sammich, all I gotta do is work for it.

All about cutting out the middle man.

I'm not trying to "feel important" and I wasn't questioning your faith. I was questioning your flowery sentiment that is confusing. Sure, on its face it sounds like some deep shĂŻt, but really it makes no sense. The believers will all love it because they generally blindly follow without much real critical thinking, but to anyone of a certain amount of logic, such things do not hold water. It simply doesn't make sense. I was not questioning your faith. That's for you to do. I appreciate your prayers, finger crossing etc, but I'm fine. Thanks for the kind gesture, but I don't need what you need, to keep me sober.

If you're trying to help people stay sober, offer practical advice, not tinfoil hats.

I think he just means you do the work, God brings the results. Some of these comments need to get a grip
