You may get a lot of different replies here, but for me..it’s just not me. I can’t really explain mine, but I believe I’m just one simple little soul passing thru. I don’t even care to try and understand the how’s and why’s of this universe. I just look around at Mother Nature, and I’m in awe of it all. Whoever or whatever is responsible for all of this is certainly more powerful than I. I choose to believe that this “power or force” is genuinely “good”. I choose to believe that I need to focus more on this good, and not my own ego and desires. I choose to not try and control all that I have no control over (powerlessness), to let the “powers that be worry about that stuff, and only focus on things I can control (my thoughts and actions). Not sure this makes any sense or answers your question, as I barely understand what I just wrote lol. Either way, it’s great you are in a program! Let’s all stay sober and work on becoming the best versions of ourselves in the process. Let’s help others do the same
"Higher Power" in my opinion is confusing and somewhat misleading, especially now that so many people are not inclined to believe in a supernatural sky god that seems to be very fickle in what he deems guidance/help/love worthy. I don't use the term, because no matter what you say, people ALWAYS think "god" and there is no god in my program, at all. I don't have any resentments towards God, because he does not exist to me. I know what the effects of my shitty ways are, so I needed to do something different than what I was doing to make positive changes. It's all pretty simple. Do good, get good things, feel good. Step 3 in AA means, to me, turning myself over to a program, to get re-programmed, to deal with things differently, for a better outcome. Changing the way I react to things.
For some god is Good Orderly Direction. I have a relationship with my higher power whom I call God. The God of the Bible. John 3:1-8
Romans 3:10,23
Romans 5:8
John 3:16
Romans 10:9-13 helped me see that I’m a sinner as we all are according to Psalm 51:5 and Romans 3:10,23 and my sin separated me from a holy loving God. However according to Romans 5:8 I can be reconciled to God through Christ.
i hate the higher power stuff. won’t let me replace stuff with the true word i want to write. i’m sure you can guess
Why do you proselytize constantly? It's frustrating.
That good orderly direction stuff is still pushy religionists trying to keep their supernatural place place holder.
I like good orderly direction, it’s great for some people to stay clean and sober but that’s as far as it goes.
I practice Dudeism! I’m an ordained minister in the church of latter day dudes! I just abide! You should check it out! But that’s just, uh, like my opinion man!
