Hit a wall. Abruptly. Started yesterday. I'm normally a fill up my time kind of person. Love my job. Although it can be stressful, I can't see doing anything else. At 47 I've finally found my career choice and I never call off. But I didn't want to go yesterday, all I wanted to do was lay on the couch. I didn't even want to go to the store or do much with my dogs. Normally I'm running, hiking with the dogs, and basically running out if time for activities. Yesterday not feeling any of it. I did manage a decent workout, but mostly I don't know what to do with myself when really this normally isn't an issue for me. Guilt sets in as I sit on the couch yet tell myself mental care is just as important as physical care. Today I called off again, well because they think I'm sick. Lol. I honestly think not going to work yesterday put me in a deeper depressed state of mind. I have an activity planned with a sober group I like but it's not till this evening. Sorry long post. Sometimes this helps. I should mention my teenage daughter is visiting her dad this week in Chicago. I hate it. Lol.

We define ourselves through the go go go culture of needing to be busy all the bloooody time. Sometimes when we slow down and allow ourselves to catch up with well... ourselves. It is thoughts or feelings that we can sometimes find detrimental.. don't mean to make such generalized or blanket statements. This may not even apply to you. Yes also being alone sometimes can add insult to injury. I had to learn self care and balance..most days I am still learning how to self love.

I definitely get that and appreciate that.. But I find joy in activities. It's a part of who I am. Even when I was a drinker.. I'm definitely not just a time filler to stay sober although I know it can help some,, and I'm not saying that's wrong. Just not me.. Sobriety has ,however, enabled me to learn how to sit with myself and my feelings. Been there for sure. This is kinda different. This is me feeling Meh about things that normally make me happy.

I'm very similar, but it IS good to do nothing but relax sometimes. It's a different kind of decompression.

Sometimes we all need a break, from everything. It’s alright if you take a few days just don’t let it become a full time thing. I had to actually start taking antidepressants for a bit just to kick start the chemical’s again in my brain. We do t have to be on the move all the time. Sometimes just chilling looking at a fire, or zoning out to mindless tv can be just as helpful as hiking, meditation or working. You will do good and figure it out

Thank you

It sounds like your body was just telling you it needed a recharge. I’m guilty of feeling guilty over a lazy nothing day as well. But the body and mind need it I’ve realized. Hope you are feeling better

That's probably spot on. I managed a 5 mile walk in the woods and sunshine with the pups and I'm feeling much better. Plus I got texts from people I work with checking in on me so that's nice :slightly_smiling_face:

Hope the activity helps. Some days are just…some days. It sucks. Hope it gets better!

Thanks! It did. 5 mile no rush wooded hike with my pups then a 3 mile trail run with a recovery group. My body feels it and I have no other option but rest lol

I get like that sometimes. My "restlessness" is usually a mental one: Where I get so worked up on all that I should do and can't do anything. Just the other day I took a couple of personal days off work and slept and ate unhealthy and felt my feelings. I can't stay in that for too long though. But as my sponsor has told me, you deserve a break every now and then

yes! I guess that is
what I needed. When this happens I feel like my world is crashing! Instead I need to realize it's OK and it'll pass.

Thanks everyone for sharing. I identify immensely :+1:
