I've been sober 6 months. And am also currently 5 months pregnant as well. Pregnancy gives me alot of vivid wild dreams. But getting sober definitely has as well. Just the other day I was dreaming about meth and needles. And using. The dream Itself was triggering. Our disease of addiction, using memories, behaviors and coping mechanisms are impeded in our subconscious and the way our brains were rewired durning our using days. Its perfectly normal to have using dreams even long into our recovery and sobriety. Your perfectly normal. Take the dream and a moment to assess and reflect. Not only on how it may have left you feeling uncomfortable, and recognizing that im still an addict, and sobriety should be taken one day at a time. But also recognize how far you've come along your journey be proud of your accomplishments! :clap:t2::sparkles::v:t2:🫶🏼

They say that those dreams are part of recovery and not to let them cause you to back slide. It’s your subconscious mind and you’re reprogramming it right now to make healthy choices

I used to have drug dreams all of the time in early sobriety. Dreams are a way for your mind and body to process through all of the stress and baggage of your day, and there are many different dreams analysis models. But for the most part it's a universal concept, that it's a healing process while resting your body. I used to have dreams of looking for drugs, endless searches...or even using drugs, and not getting high...but attempting to. I've even had bad dreams with people in them that I didn't care for at the time that we're offering me drugs and I didn't want them at the time. So I do believe there is some merit to the different beliefs and that they do mean something rather than just being scattered thoughts of nonsense. I've even actually been high in dreams and enjoyed it. But that was rare. I do know that the more time that passed and the more and more sober my lifestyle became, the fewer the dreams and now, almost 8 months later, I don't remember the last drug dreams I've had. I'm also very happy, a lot more stable, and have fewer worries with the more time that's passed.

Like Chris said it’s usually your brain processing patterns and building new ones. The fact that you didn’t use is actually a good thing - it shows readjustment to sobriety and not using. I have had plenty of these dreams myself

Good question. Honestly, a lot of us have had and still get those dreams from time to to time. It’s super normal. Our brains just throw old stuff at us sometimes.

It's ok. I think it happens to most of us at some point or another.
