I don’t got a whole lot of friends and the ones I do have use excessively… anyone known if zoom meetings possibly

The holidays are always rough for me. Christmas parties in my social/family world always mean drinking. Avoiding gatherings is my best coping mechanism right now for me. I may lose out on the festivities, but sobriety is more important!

Keep a cooler with sparkling water, juice, water etc. Keep one of those in your hand at parties. Make sure to keep chocolate on hand. Always have "friends you planned to meet after the party" (go to a meeting)

I flew across the country to Colorado to hike in the mountains for a week with my friend to avoid holiday triggers.

I’ve been wasted and high every holiday since I was 17, so I think this is must a better alternative at 7 months sober.

Avoidance maybe but I’m happy with my decision.

Alcoholic uncles. I say do a lot of deep breathing exercises and take a step back when you need to. I spend about an hour or more in the room no one is in just having my usual breakdown. Anything is better than relapsing lol

I’m not And alcoholic my son is,ļæ¼ but he lives with me and he’s a grown man I’ve tried everything to try and help him I’ve taken private doctors you name it I’ve done it we argue on a daily basis he’ll do good for a few months and then all the sudden job interruption and he starts coming home drunk every day after work I’m at my wits end I’ve asked him to leave multiple times but he won’t he just likes himself in his room I’m in the inland empire in California I need help I don’t want him to die he’s been on the brink of death before. I have to accept I can’t make him better or change. He’s isolated himself . No real friends .. we have no family gathering cus everyone drinks . I feel helpless and desperate .. as a mother I can never give up on my son , no matter what age … but it’s really put me a in a bad space .
