How come asking for help when you're struggling is the hardest thing to do? In my opinion it's because depression has a hold of you so tight. That every time you pick the phone up and look for a contact, all you think is,"I can't bother these people with my problems; they've heard enough of them already and you sound like you're looking for attention. You should be figuring this out on your own and not needing anyone's help, you're weak." Depression makes you feel like you have no one and that no one cares. So, you just have to figure it out on you're own...

Sooooooo true😞
I still have not figured out what my attraction to that feeling of hopelessness is? I have a clue of what got me there, I was just reading about learned helplessness earlier, it is very interesting. 21 years of being married to a woman that I should have left before I started got me there. Having a ironclad opinion on making a marriage work got me there and drinking the pain away kept me in it.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me it was all fear. Fear of being seen as weak. My addiction kept me isolated and in a pride/shame vortex.

27 years in the same kind of marriage… Time we turn the ship and head for positive waters.
