How do I get a sponsor? Does it cost money?

How do I get a sponsor? Does it cost money? Any information would be helpful, thanks!
FYI I am not a member of AA. While I feel it is crucial for some, it is not my path...however, I still need support other than therapy. Thanks all, gratitude to you all. :white_heart:

It doesn't cost anything and all you have to do is just ask the right person you click with. It took me a long time to find one and just recently found the right person who gets me. I am not a member of anything except a man who is on journey of recovery and realized I can't do it alone. The only payment you owe is to pay it forward when the time is right. That's it..

The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for membership. Meetings are great way to find a someone who has something you would want in a sponsor.

Look into a RECOVERY COACH.

How do I find one?

Recovery community or look it up in your area on google. They have virtual ones as well.

Thanks!

A sponsor doesn’t cost money but a recovery coach will. I suppose one could take you through the steps while you are not attending aa meetings but a part of the stepwork kind of includes meetings- considering most of us forget to apply the new actions and tools for living w/out daily reminders- also carrying the message - aka sharing your experience with living the steps on a daily basis with other people who are wanting or trying to do the same. The steps can help anyone- you just have to keep an open mind. Good luck!
