How do I go about finding a sponsor?

Go to meetings and listen to women with some time share. Find one with a story you can relate to. And ask her.

Go to a meeting every day.
I suggest 90 in 90.
Get the A.A. Big book and read it.
Listen to what people who are living sober are saying and doing. Ask one of the women to sponsor you.
If they can’t then they will know someone who can.

Listen to speakers at meetings to find someone who relates to you.
You can also have an online distance sponsor but that doesn't work as well.

Find someone who has what you want. Don’t be afraid to let go of one that isn’t working for you. It took me several tries for that. It’s like trying on shoes for me. Some fit. Some don’t I don’t buy into the philosophy that says you should never do that. Some people were way too bossy for me and talked to me like I was a dumby.

It might anxiety ridden and scary like walking up to someone you find attrative and asking them out, the only difference is that a potential sponsor DEFINITELY WANTS to help. If they can't sponsor you, they'll point you in the right direction. There's no rejection!

Pay attention to women who have some serious sobriety under their belt. They show up at step meetings and Big Book or 12 & 12 meetings with their own AA Big Book. That means they are serious about recovery and understand how the program works.
