How do ya’ll feel about alcohol-free drinks? I’m on day 18 AF. Light beer was my poison of choice.

i’ll occasionally have them if they are offered to me but i stick to seltzer and diet soda. NA beer can potentially be triggering in early sobriety as well. ice cold seltzer out of the can will give you that cold burn and help scratch the itch - my go-to!

There is an abundance of craft soda, seltzer, fruit juice, and flavored water. I tend to stay away from NA beer, I was a craft beer drinker. So the flavor is just a trigger for me. But I have found mixing mocktails is not terrible either on a hot day some of them are quite refreshing.

I’m with Tim. Whiskey was my go-to as well as craft beer. The thought of reminding myself of that taste just seems like a bad idea. It’s walking a thin line imo.

When I'm at a social event, an Arnold Palmer is as risky as I get. I usually drank Red Bull & Vodka, so I didn't even touch Red Bull for the first couple of months.

I say find your own go to drink not a substitute. Mine is Ginger beer, a dash of mint extract and squeez of fresh lemon. Muddled fresh mint is best but I don't always have it. Good luck

As a former wine drinker, I’ve gone through some interesting drink phases. At first I craved pickles and pickle juice. That went on for months then I totally started to love grapefruit juice and drank all day long. Now Kombucha is my drink. I have one at 5:00 each day and am satisfied. I also mix fruit juice with sparkling soda drinks and just experiment. I also buy fun glasses and cups.

Personally that led me back to my old ways but lots more are stronger then me

Day four girl here had an O’Doul’s the other night out with dinner, and it was great, but I don’t think I should drink those very often. I have had a fair amount of diet soda the last few days. I used to make my own kombucha and want to get into that again. Curious about drinks like Seedlip and other choices out there.

I'll drinking NAs when I'm hanging with my friends at the bar. At home, I bought a pack 3 weeks ago and just had the first one today. I don't feel they trigger me

I don't like the idea. For me, it represents the idea of wanting to stay close to my addiction. Like, I want to keep the taste going ideology will result in me truly not accepting my problem, but rather, letting the problem "gently" stick around. To each his own though.

I was initially very cautious about going down this rabbit hole. I bought some zero proof sparkling wine and it sat unopened for a little while. What helped me relax was interrogating where the desire/appeal/urge was coming from.

How tf do you even get to alcoholism on light beer??? Seems like too much work!

No for me. It's subliminal and beer is my DOC. All I do is start drinking too many and eventually it trips the mental obsession.

The NA beers have been getting much better recently. I got a 6er of Omission's IPA (NA, of course) the other day. Very good. I think there were 15-20 NA choices at our local WF. Lots of variety!
