How do you all focus on recovery? Tips? I know AA meetings are a big first step. But me I’m engaged so I’m home all day. I have a new puppy to care for and it’s great and a lot of work. But I’ve had so many relapses and I just don’t wanna do it anymore. I love my life despite all I’ve lost. I love my fiancé who cares and supports my recovery. I’m seeing a doctor and therapist. I just don’t want to relapse anymore. I know they say “if you’re not motivated; be disciplined” but it’s like I don’t have it. I plan to get a sponsor and go to AA meetings once my withdrawal meds are done. But I’m my mind it seems so straight forward but then my head just makes snap decisions to relapse. Anyone else in my shoes? It’s been too many day ones that he and my family have had to support me through. My fiancé had physically had to support me. I want to be myself again
I started my AA journey with online zoom meetings and it was a nice way to transition into the program. One day at a time. One step at a time. Heck, even one hour, or one minute at a time!!!
There are zoom meetings at all hours of the day, every single day. It’s so easy to join one! Just Google “online AA meetings” and you’ll be able to find one ASAP. I’ve attended ones all over the country and met some amazing people that way. You don’t even have to turn your camera or audio on. Just sitting and listening can be so helpful
Cute dog. If you can find time for doctors & therapists, you can surely find an hour to attend a meeting.
Isolating at home is not good .to much time in your head .zoom meeting.try one in person meetings a week to get started .we have to want to get better.take your fiancé with you to a open meeting.
Zoom meetings. 1 hour.
I don’t quite understand the correlation between being engaged and not being able to go to meetings.
I can go to meetings. I just meant that he was very supportive of my recovery
I actually really enjoy AA meetings. I’ve just been too lethargic or sick or drinking to get to one. I plan to start going once I get back from detox
