How do you feel about NA beer? They always say less than 0.5% AC, which inherently won’t have the effects of a normal drink, but it does simulate the flavor and helps to feel a bit more ‘normal’ in social situations moreso than just drinking a cup of water or loads of sugary pop. I wasn’t really a much of a beer drinker before sobriety, but now NA beer feels like an option I find myself turning to more.

Feel more “normal “? Not sure what that means. I’ll stick to water, juice and seltzer thank you. I’ve been taught non-alcoholic beers are for non-alcoholics. I’m a real alcoholic. Not worth the possibility of taking me down a road I don’t need to go down.

Thanks for your input! I have heard of the 0.0, but haven’t seen them often in my area and mocktail options are just out of the budget sometimes, which led me to this question. Thanks for the reminder to check in with myself about the motives behind it.
My take on the NA beer is this:
When I'm out with drinkers I can just ask for an Athletic IPA....and I don't have to say " do you have any non alcoholic drinks?".
Because when I do it inevitably turns into either an AA meeting or some peer pressure to drink.
It's like a secret code between me and the waiter!!
I only have one...there is still booze in there somewhere.

I'm following this because I'm interested as well... I like beer and miss the beer taste and have been thinking about trying the non alcoholic beer.

Thanks for chiming in! I guess by “normal”, I mean it’s not a point of conversation. I’m open about where I’m at, but I don’t always want to be questioned about it. I hear you about not even wanting the possibility for temptation though.

Ah this is a great idea of just preparing an order. That would definitely take the pressure off of having to ask and/or the waitress mistaking it with the alcoholic version of some of the other brands that are branching into the NA space. Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Some taste too much like beer, so I don't fck with them. It's pointless anyway when I can just have a limeade or a ginger ale with a splash of grenadine in it.

I haven't tried it. Curious, but don't think it's worth it.
Also, if I'm socializing and feel left out that I'm not drinking, I realize I'm socializing with the wrong people.

Budweiser zero is 0.0 I'll have one or 2 for a social occasion (while other people are drinking drinking) and for that for me it HELPS ALOT ...other than that I'm not much of a fan of them...so many more better/healthier/tasty options
