How do you get sobriety when everyone around you is doing your drug of choice?

I started my sober journey at 21 and I surrounded myself with like minded individuals. This meant, for the time being I had to remove myself from the people I was closest to.

You have to isolate yourself from those people and find new like minded friends. It's hard to do. Trust me. I'm going through the same thing right now. Everyone that is closest to me drinks or uses. It's tough. I feel completely alone. But ya just gotta bite that bullet and push through. I've been told it gets easier as you go. But that is not the case with me. Being alone and isolating only makes me want to use more. You don't need to cut those people out completely, but try to distance yourself from them.

Change the people around you. I literally don’t talk to hardly anyone from my past. Had to cut them out for me. I just walked away

You leave

I work at a treatment ctr that has every drug you can imagine around it. The guys when the walk to a meeting stay with each other. Your always stronger as a group, make those connections with like minded people. Sometimes it's difficult to remove yourself from a bad place, but necessary at times. Get to as many meetings as possible

Sometimes we are stuck in places that don't support us, so we have to build our own safe sobriety space. Make your sobriety non-negotiable. Flood your brain with podcasts, hit those virtual meetings, and stay glued to Loosid. Definitely check out the SAM tool on the app, too, it’s a great resource for exactly this kind of struggle.
