That’s a great question. Catching up on things from the week, trying new things, exploring, and hanging out with my pup pup Riggs on the couch catching up on tv.

What kind of pup?

I wake up early now and make chai and sometimes an omelette. Like John, I catch up on things I couldn’t get done during the week. I make sure to do something fun or relaxing. Today, we went to the animal shelter and walked three doggies. The weather was beautiful and we really enjoyed it. For dinner I usually cook something I’ve been planning during the week.

If I’m not trying something new socially where there’s no alcohol involved, my favorite thing to do nowadays is actually to make a big mug of bedtime tea and crawl of my bed with books (plural-sometimes in in the mood for a historical nonfiction book sometimes a thriller, sometimes a biography. Etc. I’m reading about four books at once now. it’s like changing the channel for me. )Reading was something I used to enjoy a long time ago but got away from because I would drink while reading and then end up getting so sauced I couldn’t focus. That lead to drinking and binge watching Netflix. If I wasn’t out drinking with friends. I have definitely been open to exploring nonalcoholic events and activities in my neighborhood and community. It’s amazing how much is out there that I was missing because my world revolved around drink.

Friday nights I have dinner with my parents and watch Pachinko (it was the Gilded Age before that).

Saturday nights I might go to the movies, but if I'm home I'll play video games or stream something.

Work and bed. Stay busy and wear myself out

If I’m not going home for a visit with family then I’m usually catching up on things around the house, doing Zoom recovery meetings, and watching Netflix while eating ice cream. I keep it pretty simple.

In early sobriety it was meeting others in meetings and hanging out. Now it’s more staying home and reading, going out to dinner and spending my energy with those who gives me that energy back.

I spend my weekends usually doing things for self care. I spend at least 36 hours doing things that I enjoy before finishing my week with school work. Everything is all about balance.

I try to sleep now and excited to count the next day as being sober

Spent the entire weekend nights at home. Mediated some, but mostly just relaxed with my dog and got caught up on things I let go in the house because I was wrapped up in drinking 2 weeks ago. For me it’s off and on. But this weekend I felt the real importance of being sober and what it means to my life. I am grateful for so much thst I have achieved that I know that if I continue down the wrong path it will disappear in a heartbeat. I don’t want that, can’t start over again so this is it for me. I am making this stick

This weekend I did some business stuff, had lunch with a friend, went to a new meeting out of town, caught up on sleep, did church online, secretary 5pm meeting, met with a sponsee. Talked to friends in my support group, got another Sponsee…

Next weekend I’ll be with my son so that will look like this; Friday night movies and dinner, Saturday mini golf or indoor go karts. Sunday church (Easter) then lunch with his great grandma..

I like to stay busy but I do like to have some time to myself…

Hiking, camping, and meetings seem to be helping me for now.
