How do you the courage to go your first meeting alone? I was sober for almost 7 years and have fallen off a couple time in the last year. Ive never done meetings or any support but i think i need it now.
Who says you have to go alone? Bring someone fun who can lighten your mood.
Yup yup! I agree with Jay whole heartedly. The whole point of the fellowship is to not be alone. I go to hear people like me talk about their experiences so I can realize I'm not alone. Anywhere I can find a meeting, I'm never alone. It's like what one of the old timers at my home group told me, do it once and it's kinda weird, so it again and it's not weird any more. He said that about chairing, but I think it applies here.
Hey Des, it takes a lot of strength to even say this out loud, so I want you to know you’re already showing courage. I remember how tough that first step was too,the fear, the uncertainty. But walking into that room might be one of the best things you ever do for yourself. You’re not alone. Everyone there has been where you are and understands. You deserve support, and I promise you’ll be met with nothing but kindness and understanding. If I could go with you, I would. You’ve got this.
Random online zoom aa is how i started.
I actually think walking in a meeting alone is the best way to do it. It's humbling for sure but it's authentic. Don't overthink it just do it
