How does an alcoholic quit drinking if their partner drinks and doesn't want to quit?
First it depends on how solid you are with your recovery. If you are in early sobriety this can be very challenging. I would suggest going to an AA meeting near you and also an Al-Anon meeting where you can find a lot of support. I have found that dating sober when your partner isn't sober can be a big trigger. I would also suggest sitting down with your partner and letting him or her know how important is is that you remain alcohol-free and he or she needs to be sensitive to not leave bottles around or drink too much around you. If all else fails, and your partner isn't sober, I would suggest looking for someone new. Your sobriety needs to become before everything.
