How I stop drinking I was drinking a 5th of Rum every night Blackout every night don't even remember going to bed I would text and get on Facebook And I had to wake up every morning to see what I did I had to stop I tried numerous ways but I come to the realization that I had to get rid of all the alcohol in my house and refuse to buy it And look back on how much it has destroyed in my life in people's lives that I know I quit a few years back for 30 days that was the challenge for myself but dam When that challenge was over I hit the bottle and never stopped For 2 years I winged myself off Cut it down to once a week then eventually stopped completely I don't even see how I'm alive But I'll be 2 months clean in a few days I hate alcohol I will never drink again I don't want to be a social drinker and I am normal Just because I can't handle drinking alcohol don't make me any different than the people that can but maybe that I'm honest with myself
Great job!
What a story. So glad you are done and moving on. You are very strong inside to break from that.
You never mention a program or group, so you go to meetings? I ask bc I got sober without a program. I go to meetings now for the fellowship (not the program). I like to hear other people who did it alone. I appreciate AA and the fellowship has mad a huge difference, BUT it can be so disempowering, constantly reminding you a person can’t do it alone. I did and I like hearing others did too. I drank a fifth a night also along with benzos, then speed to get through the day to just start over again that night. I’m no better than anyone else, I don’t want to sound that way. But I quit myself and I am very proud of that.
I did it on my own I went to 2A meetings it wasn't for me I just got angry with myself made myself do it I used to hate I had of being that way to change who I was if that makes any sense
Great job! I was right there with vodka. I didn’t do meetings either. It can be really isolating but at the same time empowering
I agree took a little bit of a break from social life And focus on me I am happy and strong willed Learning how to live this sober life don't know too many sober people though
It does make sense, congrats. I don’t want to sound like I’m dissing any programs, but I think more people who got sober on their own need to share b/c most programs say it’s impossible
