How much loneliness is put on ourselves by ourselves?

How much loneliness is put on ourselves by ourselves? I know social norms play a part. If I bump into a smoker I never get static for not smoking? The same if I am at a restaurant and I order a vegan burger. Granted alcohol is more accepted in today's age. I ask because I really am the same person I have always been. Just not saying and doing stupid stuff to get attention. I realize that I am making myself lonely. Am I punishing myself?

That’s an angle I have never looked at it from! Are we punishing ourselves with loneliness… I think it has something to do with fear. Fear of failure or relapse. Rather than chance it, we isolate and claim we are lonely. I am definitely going to sit and meditate on this! Good stuff man.

Chicken or the egg.

How do we meet people outside of bars? I’ve found in public people tend to either flat out ignore me or at best treat me like I’m a burden to their existence.

It’s severely isolating. I don’t think I do it to myself. I try to strike up a conversation with anyone I meet at a grocery store, etc. just a lot of people seem really turned off by a tall bald headed dude just making random comments about apples.
