Family is full of alcohol abuse. They harp on me for my episode last week but invite someone with the shakes who comes with her own beer. Completely welcome in our home. I can’t even leave my room without ridicule over relapsing.
So what is the problem? Exactly.
My family is full of recovering alcoholics. I had a severe relapse last week that put me in the hospital for alcohol poisoning. My family has been disappointed and are having me stay in my hamster cage of a room like a grounded teenager or find somewhere else to live. They made the house alcohol free but half my family is still drinking and the family friend that came over was plastered and the amount of kindness she was treated with irks me.
I’m just venting and projecting a little. It’s not like coming here was the friends last resort we are just the half way point from the liquor store to her own home. She just wanted somewhere to drink and hang out
Holidays can be rough. I love my family but I just admitted having cravings and took space at my apartment and my parents have now cut me off. People who aren’t addicts or won’t admit it truly don’t understand and sometimes you can do everything right and they will take it wrong. Stay strong
