I am a recovering addict. I’ve been clean six and a half years. Today I’ve had to make the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make and tell my daughter she is not welcome back home. I am heartbroken, but I just can’t watch her kill herself… I just can’t! I have another daughter who just went into recovery yesterday and the other was in the hospital detoxing and had a bed in treatment waiting. She walked out of the hospital and I have no idea where she is,but have expressed to her through message that she’s not welcome here and please don’t call. I am completely devastated

You made the hardest yet most loving decision a mom can make. If you haven't already tried Alanon I promise it can help. I thought my sponsor was crazy telling me to go to Alanon. But you need the strength and support they can offer. God bless you and your family.

Sheri, only people with addiction in their families know this pain and confusion…we can sometimes forget that our lives are extremely valuable and we are here to live, love, and find peace…..you are more valuable than numerical calculation….YOUR life is important….your courage is obvious to everyone. Ruthless disease , addiction…dont blame yourself for any of this…you never had control over it….look inward for something beautiful about you and acknowledge it…then find something else beautiful about yourself and know its real and feel its power of truth and the immense effort it took to attain it with 6.5 years and counting…..Keith Kayle

Thank you all! Friday she checked herself in to a treatment facility. She did this on her own. She is struggling a great deal with her emotions, but she’s pushing through. Hope is what I have…

I'm very happy for you and her. I recently found a YouTube channel called crappy childhood fairy. It's about people like us. Growing up in messed up families affected us hugely, but she gives great advice for people with serious sobriety.. relationship stuff but it applies to life too I think..
You guys are in my prayers
