A relapse isn't a requirement for recovery but it can be a good teacher if you learned something... Like you can't drink successfully anymore. Stay strong, don't drink and tomorrow you will have day 2!!!

Thank you for being honest! We are only as sick as our secrets…
I have a couple question, what happened that day leading up to the drink? What are you doing different this time around?

It happens, don’t beat yourself up. You owned it and admitted it. So the steps are working. Now you know something that will trigger you and you can avoid it.

Just keep moving forward.... you are amazing and don't forget it!!!

I think it’s a mistake to make too big of a deal over “how many days.” It can be a fun statistic, but improving our lives shouldn’t start resembling some kind of competition or game.

To me, the most salient question is whether or not you enjoyed it. If you didn’t, then that should be huge help in avoiding it moving forward.

Now, if you did enjoy it, that opens up a totally separate avenue for exploration that probably deserves some serious soul-searching.

My two cents…

I agree with Ricky F re not getting hung up on counting days as well as his advise as looking at what led up to slip. I count all my sober days and my slips as lessons.

Soul searching after my slips were my most valuable teaching moments

You're ALIVE and you're here telling the truth! Maybe think about needs changing this time around?:+1:

I can tell you’re very smart.

Yes keep going!

@Danielle hang in there girlie your honesty just brought you closer then 1000s of dishonest ppl try to remember u are worthy of recovery n u got this...when ever u dont please remember u can pick up....so u dont PICK UP

You can learn A LOT from a slip or relapse. The question is will you dig deep? I relapsed for over 15 years and I was thinking not willing to surrender everything (all my ideas and desires to control my life) to God. When I finally stopped playing God and was williing to do anything, including being of service to others, to stay sober things started to change. I stopped white knucking and eventually stopped wanting it or missing it.
And always ask yourself before that first drink or hit, "how does this end?"

Welcome home! I am a big fan!:+1:

Don’t be ashamed of yourself. Be proud of yourself that you were honest. Be proud of yourself you made it back because I know a lot of people that didn’t make it back. Love yourself like you did deciding to be sober. Continue to be proud of yourself every day. The more throw shame and regret at yourself the more you pull yourself back into your addiction. I am proud of you to come here and be honest. Please keep reaching out cuz it makes me happy to see more people doing this with me.
