I am committed to recovery, but I am struggling financially. My DUI was a wake up call, but I am sinking deeper into debt from the consequences. $60 a day to Uber to and from work cuts my pay in half. I am constantly met with existential dread several times a day and can feel my heart and mind racing. It’s hard enough to stay sober. I just want to know I’ll make it out of this and be okay.
Relapsing will take what you’re going through and what you’re feeling and multiply it x1000
I’ve been doing AA meetings in the morning which has helped a lot. I think deep down I know that relapsing is the worst thing I can do for myself right now. It’s been my coping mechanism for so long, it’s been hard adjusting. I feel confident in my ability to stay sober. It’s just reminding myself that there is a light at the end of this dark tunnel I’m in right now.
You know what’s up
Sorry about your troubles but sober is always better! I work at a recovery center and halfway house.. the guys at the house were able to get cards to cover Uber costs.. I will ask about how they get them at work today and maybe it’s a program that you could enroll in?! Friend me and I will message you when I have an answer.
Wow! That would help a lot! Thank you so much Joe!
No worries! There are so many government programs out there that no one really knows about.. I will let you know what I find out..
Ask the judge to give you a restricted license so you can drive back and forth to work. Write him a letter today or have your lawyer hook it up.
What a great idea!! Tell him you are in a recovery program as well
I think they will allow this, but my lawyer said it will be about 3 months till I can do that. I also gotta get my truck repaired because I didn’t have collision coverage.
The promises do come true. Don’t lose faith.
Are there any carpooling opportunities with any co-workers or others in your local recovery network? Ask for help and you just might get it!!
Sometimes slowly.
Unfortunately all my coworkers live in the opposite direction of me and I’m 30 minutes away. As for someone in my recovery circle, everything is online due to COVID so I don’t have anyone local. I have some friends who can help me with a ride on occasion, but it’s still rare.
It may go down ward .stay with meetings no matter what.get phone numbers .ask for help at meetings.meet lots of friends.I was on probation for a one year.no car for 9 months.want to meetings every day.and work .made it on time every day.you can do this!!!!!
I’m doing AA digitally due to covid
And all of that has made me stronger.you may have to walk. Aa. Org. /aa. 35 years .26 when I came in .I am 61.
