I am feeling really proud of myself because I dragged

I am feeling really proud of myself because I dragged my shy, anxious self to an AA meeting. I don’t tend to find these “satisfying,” per se, but I sense that I need to drop the high expectations of meeting my new best friend at any of these and just show up, connect even imperfectly, un-isolate, be vulnerable. Got a few contacts, texted one, she didn’t offer to be my new best friend immediately, but I choose to not ghost AA and meetings because of it :joy:

Good for you! I love the way you wrote this. It’s very easy to identify with, as I know I felt the same way! I also dragged my shy, anxious self to an AA meeting that I didn’t want to go to. I also had to drop those expectations and connect to other imperfect humans in all my awkwardness. I started doing this July 23 2021. It’s now 381 days later! In some ways I’m still the same awkward goof, in other ways I’m a completely different person. I try and break thru my shyness and introduce my awkward feeling self out to a newcomer because I know how they are feeling. Regardless of how put together or disheveled they may look on the outside, I know how they feel on the inside. Keep coming back. In a short period of time you are going to be a great asset to the newcomer.:peace_symbol:❤‍🩹
