I am feeling really uncomfortable with my home group right

I’m actually curious to read some of that literature if you could point me to some resources that would be great. I’ve been in and out of the recovery community for a minute and have repeatedly been discouraged by similar behavior

So - Language of the Heart is AA Conference Approved Literature. Bill Wilson wrote a monthly contribution to the AA magazine "The Grapevine" for 20 years. Language of the Heart is all of those in one Book. The reason it was so valuable to me, is because Bill reflects on what he wrote in the BB and 12 and 12 - explains his thinking at times writing it, and give insight at times to how he has even changed his stance on some things since.

Our Great Reponsibility is also AA Conference Approved. That book is a collection of all the speeches Bill gave throughout the years at the annual conference in Akron, OH. Very similar Language of the Heart in the Bill reflect on the past.

People like to treat him like a saint, and the BB like a Bible. He repeatedly makes it clear that the fellowship should do neither. But alcoholics are lazy creatures.. Read a book when I don't have to? No way... I'd rather parrot some bs ego statement by some.random alcoholic somewhere down the line, because those statements usually feel good.

Have you heard this in the fellowship before "you don't even start thinking clearly until you are 5 years sober"

Yet they follow the BB like a Bible which was written by a grandiose, full of sh** salesmen - just like me BTW, with 3.5 years sober.

They derive their entire program, wisdom and AA existence around a guy who they unwitting have said doesn't start thinking clearly for another 1.5 years...

Best advice I have, is become a.seeker. The answers you seek are out there in print.
