I am grateful to be done with the court process

I am grateful to be done with the court process of my DWI that has went on for two years before it went to trial yesterday. No license for a year, have to figure that one out… but I can if I’m sober.

It could have been way worse! You will get it all worked out. Glad that stress is over.

Same here, but I’m also going through an accountability court program. I’ve been tested randomly five days out of 7, including last Sat. and Sun. morning, have classes Tuesdays and Thursday nights every week from 6-9 pm, family group 7:30-9 pm on Monday night once per month, and court twice per month 3:30-5:30 pm. I also have to prove that I am working or enrolled in school hours a week, go to AA twice per week, obtain a sponsor and work the 12 steps, work 240 hours of community service, and pay $75/week in program fees and 1/2 of my fines. The only silver is the DUI judge can grant me a limited permit to drive after 28 days.

That is a tremendous amount to do. I would have been willing to do that but was not given an option but I also had a DWI charge that was 2 weeks from being 7 years before this one so I guess that’s why. I am on probation for twelve months but she said I would likely get released early if I don’t drink or get into any kind of trouble. Which thankfully I am not and haven’t been drinking by the Grace of God.

Thank you! I just want to be able to drive again but again you’re right it could have been so much worse.

Yes Barbara, it’s going to tough, but I’m going to do it. It’s only a year and there is only a year and only has a 7% relapse rate during and after from the program. I know it’s a part of God’s plan for me to stay sober and return to a productive life for me. Keep your chin up. It will be over before you know it.

I’m waiting on a court date for my fourth): I’m not terrified of the time I must do, just the time I’ll waste being in a cell. I hope you do well and remember why you’re doing what you do!! Let them know you’re doing well for yourself.

I m so sorry you’re going thru this… is there maybe a good length of time between the dates of conviction that maybe they all won’t count against you?

We shall see! The DA hasn’t sent a plea bargain yet.. it has been 4 months so I’m attending meetings and getting signatures and continuing to take care of my responsibilities right now. Hopefully they’ll have mercy..

I was successfully off probation for the previous one, so maybe that would help too!

Definitely will do a lot in your favor. Prayers for you.
