I am late. Late with my

gratitudes in writings, not with gratefulness in my mind, heart, and spirit.

I am grateful for Lucy. She came to me a year ago. Frail. Weak. Anemic. Almost toothless. 14 years old. She came to me and I only knew where she was if she barked. The water bowl is where she would be.. barking at it if low or empty. She slowly began to go outside instead of using the puppy pad. She was okay with touch, just not a big fan. Steady. Unwavering. Continual. Soft. Daily. Love. Affection.

One year and 4 months later. Here we are. Bouncing around like a little lamb. Frolicking in the massive cloud like comforter. Snuggling with my feet or legs. Walking on me and laying down seeking attention.

I am reminded of my first year in recovery. Lucy's journey is a mirror. A reflection of how I was and a projector of how I am living.

I love Lucy.

Sober. Strong. Grateful.
