I am living one hour at a time. Trying to

I am living one hour at a time. Trying to keep myself busy. I started yesterday my plan 90 meetings for 90 days.
I attended evening meeting yesterday, I have met with few people.
I will keep this commitment and promise to myself, no matter how busy I am - I need a meeting every day. Even if I don’t feel satisfied after meeting, which happens a lot to me. Still I must go.

Don’t quit until the miracle happens. I promise you, if you keep going to meetings, meet people and talk to them, listen, really listen, relate don’t compare, and do some service, your life will change…

I hope. I really do! Thank you

There is no goddàmn miracle. Period. It's not a miracle. It's work. Lots of repetitious work and doing the opposite of the dumb shït you (we) wanna do. That miracle nonsense is, well, nonsense. You look like you're awesome at yoga. That didn't happen by a miracle. YOU did that with lots of hard work and repetition. Sometimes meetings just suck. The weather sucks, the lead sucks, you get sick of the same person saying the same dumb shït at every meeting. That's okay. At least you're not drinkng at the meeting!Sometimes that's as good as it gets.

You can do this. Please don't do it alone. Carve out a sober support system within the meetings you go to. Make some solid girlfriends and get through this shït.

Jane, I’ve never been to a meeting where I didn’t hear something that I needed to hear.

Overcoming generations of alcohol abuse and dependence in a society that glorifies escaping reality by purchasing the latest and greatest trinket and mind altering chemicals is miraculous in my opinion. Work it took. Going to meetings and feeling accepted and loved by people you don’t necessarily like is part of the work. Finding a relationship with something greater than yourself is part of the work. Looking within the dark corners of your soul, being honest and humble in understanding those things is part of the work. For me it is miraculous that I had the willingness to do those things. Period.

Community is everything when trying to quit. I tried for decades knowing drinking was a waste of time, money, and health. Once I joined a community of like minded people it clicked. That was over a year ago. If I can do it you can too.

The best part of meeting is not having to be in your head for an hour, not having to feel the pain of withdrawal/detox, listening to others be positive for 1 hour gives you a daily reprieve from the pain of your old life.. regret, loss, anger, etc.
keep it up! I’m supporting you all the way. Your kicking bu**!

How was the meeting tonight Jane?

I attended 6pm meeting and it was awesome. I felt weird and didn’t want to go but I forced myself. But I am glad I did.
