I am loosing again! I get sober then mess up! Idk why!!!
Relax if you can. If you get the urge to use reach out.
Everyone has had setbacks you're not alone.
You haven't lost yet!!!!
Reach out to me if you feel like using.
Maybe because you have an addictive personality?
If you are depending on strength and will power, you are likely to keep struggling.
Until you are ready, don’t go anywhere near temptation. I know we are all different but I divorced, eliminated all of my ‘friends’ and moved to get sober. I left everything and never relapsed. I don’t think I could have done it if I hadn’t changed my life and environment 100%. There is no easier softer way.
If you really want what we have, perhaps you are ready to take certain steps. In your case a meeting every day might be in order for a while. Good luck, you got it if you want it
I'm feel so much sorrow reading this. I had thoughts about being an alcoholics at 12 yrs old and they always hovered around my active addiction like the elephant in the room I refused to acknowledge.
357 days ago I checked into a rehab after passing out in neutral in a parking lot. Woke up no idea where I was or how I got there, I was supposed to be at work.
Called a rehab at that moment got on a plane 12 hours later.
The point to my overly long post is this...
When your ready not just for the idea of being sober, truly ready to put in the work your path to sustainable sobriety will be very hard.
I hope this helps.
If you want to talk more feel free to reach out.
Stay Sober!
Stay Strong!
For context sake I am 32.
It took almost 18 yrs of heavy alcoholic drinking before I felt the need to ask for help and begin the work.
Apologies for the second post.
It's not easy, if it was everyone would do it, but people are dying everyday because it's not easy... but it is worth it!
Also know there is a difference between a lapse and relapse...a relapse is when you fall off the wagon completely...a lapse is when you mess up once or twice get back on the wagon and say I can do it... don't be so hard on yourself it took me almost a year before I didn't have any lapses anymore.
YOU CAN DO THIS!
Every time I go to the meetings they act like I’m dumb I walk up to try to get sponsors and they don’t even look at me
Keep going to meetings.don’t stop.
I go to AA for the fellowship, not the steps. Everyone has their own path and I think AA sometimes forgets that. As far as sponsorship… it’s a mixed bag. I’ve never had one, don’t want/need one and 2+ years sober. If you feel you need a sponsor, be careful and remember NONE of them have professional training. I’ve heard sponsors tell people some dangerous stuff. Maybe try different meetings. But please go for the support, you don’t have to do the rest.
