I promise it WILL get better! I believe in you, Melissa! I was right where you are right now and it does pass. Sending you big hugs and if you need anyone to connect with who understands I’m here! :blue_heart::hibiscus: You can and will feel better, then the feelings will be easier to manage. xoxo

I know it’s hard , take it just even one minute at a time.. positive affirmations.
You can do this .. just hang on. Don’t worry about tomorrow or yesterday just right now ..:pray:t3:

I definitely gets better. Get to a meeting on Friday and Saturday nights. That’s what I did. Worked like a charm.

Take it a minute at a time if you have to. As others suggested, get in touch with your support or go to a meeting. No one would be sober for years if it didn’t get better. We are here rooting you on.

It gets better!! I agree with everyone else — find a meeting you like, identify as new, and let other people show you how to live sober. Watch a fellowship grow around you.

Melissa it gets WAY better! I can remember when I first started going to meetings and I would hear people say that they were so thankful to be an alcoholic/addict and I would think to myself that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Today I'm so thankful to be a recovering alcoholic. If you stay sober, your mental, physical and spiritual health gets SOOO much better. Just stick with it

Thank you all! Made it through Friday night and brunch mimosas. I walked 3 miles instead :running_woman:t3:

It's not going to get better if you stay at home just to not drink. You should be at an AA meeting. When I first got sober, I went to meetings every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.

Yes it does. It's like hitting the restart button on your computer. It takes a little bit to load and get running but eventually it gets back up to speed and proper working order.

Good work
Keep it up! I never went to AA meetings and am 2.5 years happily sober, BUT I do go to NA meetings, and it's been so nice to find friends who are living clean and sober. It's important to surround yourself with those who are going through what you are going through. Never knew I wasn't so alone in getting clean until I joined the group. I go once a week, and it's helped me incredibly. Looking forward to Tuesday for my next meeting. Definitely give A A a chance.

It get better, and easier, attend meetings, talk to people who are close to you, who might give good advice. Also look into smart recovery, on line meetings, or Google it.

This seems more my pace. I’ve tried aa and it’s not a good fit for me.

Glad you seem to like it more, it has helped me a lot. Brought a lot to my mental and if you think you would enjoy it more, Amazon has a great work book for it…

It completely gets better and easier. I suggest this book a lot… stopped me drinking right in my tracks:
Allen Carr’s “Quit Drinking”. Information is power.

It does get better. Your nerves need some healing. I know for me personally my nerves were all over the place when I decided to get sober. From anxiety, insomnia, to weird muscles twitches. Your system is recalibrating itself so you gotta give yourself some grace and keep those expectations from driving you crazy. Keep after it. Sobriety is a great goal towards and better life.
