I am so grateful for my son. He still wants to hang around his ma even when he is 15!
My son, 42, loves to fly across the country and hang out with me. So I know how you feel. I could not bear if he didn’t visit and call. He’s all I’ve got. My immediate family passed away and I’ve had a hard time adjusting.
Yes losing immediate family members is very difficult and grieving is healing. The pain we feel is because we love them. May I recommend what has helped me? Getting help with the grieving process and one book in particular I have found very helpful now and in the past. My wife who was in AA together with me suddenly died and it will be a year and a half June 2nd, which is about how long it takes for most of the healing. Perhaps you might find How to Survive the Loss of a Love useful to read and discuss with your 15 year old and it might help you both grieve in a more thoroughly manner. You have my sympathy and support. And May God bless you in a very special way this Memorial Day period.
