I am so torn. I feel like there is this

I am so torn. I feel like there is this inner battle I'm fighting where one half of me wants to be sober and free from all toxins and substances and the other half wants to learn to enjoy everything in moderation. My DOC is marijuana. The thought of never being able to smoke again feels unreasonable. Truth is, I love it. It's not ruining my life. Sugar and junk food are ruining my life more than weed is. Maybe I'm just trying to justify using it but I really don't feel like it's all that bad of a drug. Idk what to do cause I love the carefree feelings of being high, but I'm wondering what life could be like if I could learn to heal and be happy without substances.. I'd love to hear how you all feel about marijuana and any advice u have for someone who has relapsed a few times and is unsure if sobriety is the right path or if moderation is actually possible and wise decision? Thanks!

Hi - can you smoke marijuana in moderation? I know that I can’t - once I start, I can’t put it down. Same with my DOC. It wasn’t always that way with pot, but it became so as my addiction developed. I’m proof that marijuana truly is a gateway drug - but it isn’t for everyone. Some people just don’t put themselves in the wrong place at the right time when they are high on pot. Maybe you can smoke in moderation - only you know.
I had smoked marijuana daily for 25 years before meeting the drug that brought me to my knees. I had to be abstinent of any mind altering drugs to recover from my addiction. I couldn’t fathom how I would mow the lawn, grill out, pay bills, or do my taxes without being high. But I learned that I could just fine. Having pot out of my life brought me more present - in my life, in my family’s life, to my friends and employers. I look back now and wonder what in the world was I thinking being high on pot all the time. I wish you the very best and hope that whatever you choose works out for you.
