Been struggling with addiction 10 years, started with weed

I’ve been there thousands of times! But I had to learn to escape in a healthy way and process the anxiety, fear, anger, boredom, or whatever else, so all the above is now not so overwhelming. I learned to use the tools through the 12 steps and service.
I’m here if you want to talk.

Yeah I finally got away from my family but I have 15 years of underlying trauma

You’re not a downer. You’re speaking your truth of your struggle with alcohol like we all are. You are not alone in this. I’ve felt this way many times before.

I only touched alcohol a few times I don’t like it and it messes with my gut, I’ve been coping w cannabis but spiraled into coke, opiates and ketamien

I just keep in mind that it's poison when I have the desire and I don't want to end up in those places booze and drugs led me to in my past I don't have to drink and drug no matter what this too shall pass

You’re a not being a downer at all. Cravings can feel overwhelming, and it’s a tough part of the process that so many of us face. This app can absolutely help, you’ll find people here who get what you’re going through. Sometimes just talking it out or reading others’ posts can help shift that mindset.

M S I'm so glad you posted your feelings.
Without people like you sharing your struggles I think more people would be prone to relapse.
Don't give up. Continue to share your experience strength and hope with each other on this app in this community. I like to call this community my family. Without these people here I don't know where I'd be.

We’ve all been there. But there is a better way of life. I personally practice the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous. That’s where I found a solution. Maybe you can too in narcotics anonymous
I have a life today that is beyond my imagining. Very grateful for my sobriety today.

You don’t have to struggle anymore!
Long term sobriety is available to each and everyone of us IF we do the work. Here is what I did to do so One Day at A Time……
#1 is Surrender. Cease fighting anything and everything.
•Attended an AA meeting everyday sometimes twice a day for at least the first year. Never less than 3 per week thereafter.
•Find a sponsor to work the 12 steps (a Big Book thumping sponsor)
•Read daily meditations each morning and pray/ meditate.
•Listen to podcasts and open talks on UTube frequently
•Read the first 164 pages of the BB and the 12 n 12
•Hang with the winners …. the fellowship of AA

I encourage you to get started today. For we have a disease that wants us dead. Give of yourself to this simple program. You’ll be glad you did. Most of all… just don’t stop, EVER.
Best wishes

Kim that was very well said. I agree 100% with you.
This is a simple program for complicated people.
And if we want it we have to work for it you were right. First 164 pages of the big book is the most informative and descriptive of how and why this program works for us. It is outlined and defined very well.
12 traditions teach us how to live in the big book shows us.

Do you need to deal with 15 years of trauma? We have to face and process things that have caused us to numb ourselves. At least I did but I had to get help to break that cycle. I tried and failed by myself. Recovery is possible :butterfly:

Yah
