I can't believe I haven't seen anyone post.... I'm Grateful for The Dead. No wharf rats out there? Music is my world; it has helped me through everything.
Morning Dew is one of my many favorites. Wishing you happiness on this day!!!
Amazing only you that mentioned the Dead. Dew is a great song indeed
Close friend of mine, David Dalton wrote a book with Rock Scully: “Living With The Dead”. FYI. Met Rock a few times. Severe drinking issues I think he was very resentful of being let go.
No kidding... I'm certainly familiar with rock Scully. The name David Dalton sounds familiar, probably because of the book, but I don't think I read that one. I know of it. Currently listening to the good ole grateful deadcast on dead.net. excellent stories of the history. Thanks for sharing
Love it Amanda! Got on the bus in 1988. First show in Hartford. I saw the Dead with Jerry 8 times and everyone since probably 25 more. Going to shows sober is different! And still mind-blowing! Roll away, the dew.
Yup, I'll always be a Head.
No, not really. It would have been cool to have a beer, but I was always there for the whole experience. I've never been into drugs. The music moves me so much. I wasn't sober when I saw shows in CT, VT, NY, NJ, MA all with Jerry still alive. But I wasn't out of control then. Last show was Giants stadium, June of 95. He died in August. 90,000 people at High Gate, Vermont. The pictures are unreal. Great photos online. Next show was Giants. Back to back and one heck of a long strange trip of a weekend. Last couple of Dead and Co shows, I've been sober and loved it. Made a joke to my buddy... Who would have ever thought I'd be drinking a non alcoholic beer and you'd be drinking water at a Dead show?! He can drink responsibly, I'm a good designated driver!
Aww, yeah the scene. Always loved a good walk down Shakedown Street. Used to be the heart of the town.
Yup now I'm a wharf rat. My name is August West. For those who may not know. Wharf rats are sober heads who go to shows. Info booth, huge group on Facebook.
All the guys from the band that are still with us play live in various combinations. Saw Bob weir's 'Wolf Brothers ' a couple months ago. Dead and Co. Toured last summer. Man they are jammin'. Excellent show.
We will survive!
