Why do I feel like once my sobriety took over all my so called “advocates” who guilt trip me or shamed me for my drunken behavior over the years are still unhappy? 42 days sober and the people I thought were gonna be the happiest are actually the opposite. I am literally setting up boundaries to protect my sobriety.

One thing about sobriety is that your circle of friends gets smaller but much stronger and more meaningful.
Some people are just plain miserable and want to bring others to their level. I found that when I started looking out for me and not feeding into their own issues, that weight lifted from my shoulders. It hurts sometimes but letting go of those who will not support you, is the best thing to do. Some come back around, some won’t but you are deserving of the serenity and peace. Look out for yourself first,
