I celebrated 4 years on Monday. It was bittersweet. I guess I had wanted to be the center of attention and when my day came and went I was upset because I always see how it was just another day. I have to realize that not everybody has the same heart as me.
That is a hard pill to swallow...I'm proud of you!! Congrats and happy belated!! Celebrate yourself and your accomplishments. They matter! And try to remember that expectations are nothing but premeditated resentments!
Love you sister
4 years is amazing Kimberly! I can understand how you feel. Seemed like everyone (my family and AA) made a big deal the first few years. After that. my family kinda forgot unless I mentioned it, and I stopped going to AA. Eventually, 20 + years later, even I forgot! Now that’s when you really have a problem!! Thus, I’m back at 111 days after 5 years of hell. So, make sure you remember and celebrate! Also, love what Sandy L says about expectations and premeditated resentments! So true! I promise you that your sober anniversary is a big deal to us!

Congrats!!
Congrats. My anniversary was yesterday and I got a tattoo so I was the center of attention at the parlor. lol It’s not just another day. Make plans to pamper yourself for your next one.
CONGRATULATIONS, WOOHOO AWESOME
I know nobody follows my sobriety as I do. They just know I don't drink. That's good enough for me.
But 4 yrs is AWESOME, you should be proud of yourself
Yes .it is a Big deal.all ways celebrate a little for your self. when the years get big celebrate bigger.it comes around one time a year.
Wanting to be the center of attention is part of our selfish disease… I think the AA folks refer to it as a “character defect”. Coming to terms with the fact that I can only change my actions and not others was a major turning point for me. On my anniversaries, I appreciate the love I do get, but I always remind myself that this is my journey and my responsibility to keep myself sober and happy.
