I didn’t make it

It happens. I'm on day five after another week long binge. 2 days and nights of the cold sweats and shakes. I've been through over 10 thirty day inpatient programs and have failed every time. AA, First Step and SMART recovery programs. Congratulate yourself for stoping after just a few. Tomorrow is another day. Stay strong. :muscle:

Okay I'm the bad guy who asks the unwanted questions...

Not sure why you drank. There must be a reason why you're trying to stop. If it's causing you problems in your life I will ask you again, why did you drink in the first place?

Did you get out of alcohol what you wanted? Or did it disappoint you as usual?

If your answer is the latter, we have to learn to play the scene forward. What happens if you take a drink? You might feel good for a while but sooner or later you will be right back where you started, carrying around more guilt, realizing that you accomplished absolutely nothing.

When I drink, I don't stop until I'm passed out. And then I drink tomorrow, the next day, the next day and the wheel goes round and round. It's called the Insidious cycle of insanity.

Most of us once we've made a decision to stop drinking, we relapse because we simply believe the big lie that alcohol feeds us. It tells us that this time everything will be okay. But it never is, is it?

If alcohol is causing you problems in your life, then I highly recommend that you go to AA meetings. Go to 90 meetings in 90 days. And at that time if you don't think that you are as alcoholic as the rest of us, we will gladly refund your misery.

So much better! Kept myself busy with the kids and cleaning house. Haven’t sat down most of the day, so that helps.

It is causing issues, so I’m trying to stop. I drank last night because I put myself in a social situation when I wasn’t ready.

Last night I did get what I wanted out of drinking, and I was able to stop which is a huge win for me. I use in social situations because it makes me feel less awkward.

I know I shouldn’t have drank in the first place. I’m lucky I was able to quit when I did.

"Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, the only gift we have is now, that is why it is called the present".
Just quoted an animated turtle for you. Don't get too down on yourself. One day at a time or even one hour at a time if need be. Keep on keepin on :fist:

Eventually you gain confidence by not drinking in social situations. It seems intimidating at first, but like everything else in life, you get better with practice.
