I don’t know how to shake this I know I’m
Not putting the work in, I feel like a failure I binged for 2 days now I feel awful, can’t afford mental health so I turn to alcohol and I hate it.
Deep breaths. You're not a failure. This is hard! I was on my best streak and am starting all over again now. You've got lots of support here. One day at a time
Thank you meetings are free and I don’t put the effort in I really need to get it together because I hate drinking to cope then to just feel horrible for days it’s not worth it.
Why do we feel so shameful with this disease I’ve been so embarrassed of myself and that’s not helping any type of recovery.
This is one of the reasons this disease is so cunning and baffling. It feeds on itself. You feel bad so you drink. Then you feel worse so you drink more.
But if you can see the insanity of this, you can start to cut it off. Instead of taking that first drink, talk to someone who gets it. No one with any real sobriety (or even a desire) is going to shame you because we have been where you are.
You can break the cycle. And you have a bunch of people who can help if you just ask.
Well said TJ your right thank you
Guilt, shame, and embarrassment are all anchors. Those feelings do nothing but weigh you down. Let yesterday go and focus on right now. It’s okay to screw up and start over. Most of us do.
