Nope I know I can’t imagine “the rest of my life” I can and have taken it one millisecond at a time... it has evolved into 20 years!

No one can. All we have is today. One day, one minute at a time. It gets better, I promise.

Ervin! What do you want to do? Is the emotion to intense? Is it finding God the uncomfortable part? Writing down a fourth step? Is your life unmanageable when drinking?

All of that you mention

Early sobriety can be very hard. We all have felt that there is no way we cannot drink or be sober for the rest of our lives. This is pretty normal. Your mind and your body have to start healing. As an alcoholic if you pick up and continue drinking you have three option and none are good. you have a disease that has to be treated as such. I'm 10 1/2 years sober and life gets better and better. Picking up will only make it worse…

In recovery, we often hear the phrase one day at a time. I have come to believe and rely on this saying. We don’t have to worry about doing this the rest of our lives. The question is can I do this today? I personally follow the program of AA. There are other programs these days as well. They seem to all have a few things in common. First, they are daily programs. They are not quick fixes with permanent results. Next, they typically involve spiritual growth. If you can focus on staying sober today, while finding tools to help you grow spiritually, you have a good shot at making it today. Do this for an extended period of time, and typically life gets better in so many ways. Wishing you well my friend :peace_symbol:
