I drank 12 to 14 beers a night for 10 years probably. Alcohol was ruining my life and my relationships. In order to quit I went to a medical detox for five days. After that, it took another five or six weeks for me to not feel like I was going through a wormhole of torment. Around week six or seven, something shifted. I realize now the extent to which I was in a pattern of creating my own misery and then solving it with the very thing that was causing my misery.
I have never read the big book nor have I ever attended a meeting. Except kind of overhearing one at the detox facility.
Today is two months and two days sober.
My main struggle is that I no longer have the alcohol to hide from me the vast emptiness and loneliness and boredom that is my life.
Just sharing my story to
