Hi Chris ! I know everyone is different, but what really helped me was opening up to my friends/family about my problem. I’m not sure where you’re at in your journey, but I’m sending good vibes your way :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I no longer have a family. My Daddy died when I was 31 & Mom passed when I was 34. I lost all friends after a vehicle accident, TBI & in coma for 6 weeks 3 days…I began drinking to cope.

Thank for theđź’Ş

I’m so sorry to hear all of that. Maybe you can find a meeting to go to soon and meet some sober friends. My New Years goal is to just focus on being sober/finding a local sober network

I am very good at quitting. I like your support. My partner doesn’t drink, only smokes pot…I was fussy, a month after Mom passed, saw a handsome boy next to me on highway…honk honk, pull over…together 11years…worth calling it quits for

My Daddy passed from metastatic melanoma, when mom passed, they dropped me, moms family. They said I killed my Daddy…I haven’t stopped crying.

I have no one but my partner & unfortunately vodka.

“They” are ignorant! I’m sorry for all the trauma. You don’t need to listen to that garbage any more. You are now part of our recovery family. We are dysfunctional as well, but we are also loving snd supporting. You only need to take care of yourself. Easier said than done, but you can do it. Make the decision each and every morning to do so. Most of us find it very helpful to remain mindful by joining a support group and getting involved in a recovery program. Welcome to the Fam

Thank you

Vodka has been a beauty. My mother drank & I unfortunately took on…

You’re cool

I will reiterate about finding a support chain. I have had a lot happen in the 18 months I have been sober and each time my AA family has surrounded me. You will learn that at least one person has been through a similar situation.

Chris
I wouldnt want to trade places with you. I know what it feels like. And I also know that it will get worse. When I quit the last time around I would open up one of those 1.75 liter bottles of Vodka. Before the end of the 2nd day I was opening up another.

If you're not able to put the cap on the bottle and keep it on, on your own then you need to check into a treatment center. A treatment center is a better proposition because when we drink large amounts of alcohol it can be very dangerous detoxing ourselves.

I can tell you that there is a better life for you but you have to start from square one like everyone else. You have to decide how bad you want it.

What are you willing to do in order to get it? You should start by calling someone from Alcoholics Anonymous and share you're situation.

If you think you need to cut down or stop, you’re probably right. Lots of us are not capable of that kind of self-knowledge. Anyone you trust and feel comfortable talking about it with?

This website saved my neck. There's at least two meetings every hour to choose from. Some days I go to 5 meetings a day, if that's what's needed. Every zoom meeting I've gone to I've been made feel safe n loved n welcomed. They will go the extra mile to help if you're struggling.

Taper off or go to detox and then replace the bad habit with good ones. My DOC was vodka, and on my binges, I drank as much as that, and I’m 43 days sober and staying busy with healthy habits. At that level, if you don’t taper off or detox, you will have potentially life threatening withdrawals stopping cold turkey. Be safe and sober! You got this!

This app helped me to successfully quit. Whenever I got an urge to drink I would hop on to read storied and offer support to help others quit. Try it out. Also, don't be too prideful to seek medical treatment if you get harsh symptoms from quitting. Getting real medicine from the Dr will beat going back to the bottle.

Also, go into quitting with the mindset that "this is going to be uncomfortable, but it's temporary." Expect physical and mental symptoms as you withdrawal and know that they are temporary and normal.
