Don’t use your stress as a reason to use. It’s what your addiction wants.

I echo what Shawn said. You have to talk about it to work through it and lessen its hold on you.

Hey Tommy! As said above, a meeting would be very helpful. There comes a time when you got to do the work. Your head is telling you that you don’t want to go. Time to stop listening to the poison your head is telling you. Time to fight back against it. Try something different if you want different results. I know it ain’t easy man, but the alternative is killing you.

Meetings. Get rid of that chit.

I know I need to get to a meeting the saddest part is that my wife and I are both addicts and it seems like I’m the only one working on my addiction making the resentment almost unbearable and I add insult to injury I just started a new job and not only was today my first day by myself doing my basic duties but some idiot decided to leave half of their stuff undone making me stumble for the day and fall behind making it even harder this day is just turning out to be a very very hard test

I know it is killing me there is not a single good time that I have when it comes to alcohol anymore it only seems to hurt me more I have been on and off battling with this addiction and it seems like the person who is supposed to be by my side is either holding out and using up until the point where I just can’t stand it and speak my mind and then it starts a huge fight and she gets to go off and use again and again and do whatever she wants it seems like I’m trapped I know I sound like a battered wife but if the details were laid out I wonder how it would sound

You got this Tommy, just get to bed sober. Tomorrow is a new day.

The problem with meetings is that I live in Northwest Indiana and most of the meetings end by 8 PM and a lot of the time I don’t even get off work until after 11 and during the weekdays I usually have to do DoorDash to make ends meet it seems like all of my time to work on my addiction is being taken up trying to climb out of this mud hole

You can’t get someone else clean while trying to get yourself clean…actually you can’t get someone else to want to be sober. You gotta focus on yourself bro. Just focus on what you can control at this moment. Let that other stuff be for now. You can stay sober right now. You can breathe right now. You can find one thing to be grateful for. Concentrate on that one thing.

After a much worse work day I come home to more fighting. All in the same form of her old ways. I need to get out I think. This is torture

I run to get over my stress

I write i love to sing I do voice impressions I love bowling but I’ve been drunk for 15 years so still getting my sea legs. But I am finishing my book a die hard addiction

I want to start a form of martial art

Go for a long walk - it can really help settle stress - calms the mind.

A calm sea never made a skilled sailor. You can get through this if you do the next right thing. Besides, regret will last longer than any urge.

I do Krav Maga. It will kick your a$$.

Don’t use stress for using it will only add more stress. Find an outlet for the stress. A meditation, a walk, a gym session, heck I just tried ax throwing for holiday stress. Worked great and impossible to do while using.
