I feel so bored/boring now that I stopped drinking. These times I would just go to a local bar and get drunk with whoever is there. That’s not an option anymore I realize that all my friends were just drinking friends, now I don’t have many people to hangout with

It’s a good time to self explore and find new things you like. I surprisingly have a green thumb and like to garden, little did I know. You never know what you’ll find!

Boredom is a huge trigger for me too. But really the truth is, I'm super boring when I'm drinking because all I do is sit on my behind and drink. Can't wait to have more time to pursue creative things and the motivation to do it. My motivation hits the ground when I drink.

I think we’re all in the same boat….. I always thought well at least when I would drink I had fun and socialized. We just have to figure out other ways to fill out time because we know what drinking brings…. It’s not fun just misery in the end

Thank You Kelley, I have a list in my mind of things I would like to try doing, now I just need the motivation to get started

Haha, Jessica Im sure you’re not super boring as you say. But yes we need that motivation to get up and get out and do healthy things

So true Luis, that is exactly what I am struggling with. I know what I need to do, but the motivation is lacking

Think of all the time and extra cash you should have not walking to the tavern and drinking. I added up one day the hours and money I spent in a week… I was floored! I could afford a new truck payment and I can now be present in my kids life and activities. Motivation is just like starting the sober journey… the hardest part is starting. Once you get going it gets easier to keep going.

Thanks Tim, I do find I am saving some cash. Maybe I’ll do that and see how much I’m saving

I will be following this, because I am in the same boat Derrian. 135 days sober today and just feel bored and discouraged at times because I too realize that all my "friends" are turning out to be just "drinking buddies".

Went hiking with a buddy I met in Court; we hiked Rim to Rim in the Grand Canyon. And we both remarked about how we saved money that would have otherwise been spent on drinking and instead used it to get some bougie camping/hiking gear. So, like others have said, explore, find a new hobby that’s healthy, and make new friends. Surprisingly, more random folks are receptive to me not drinking than I would have thought.

I wish I had all the money I’ve spent in a bar or liquor store..and/or dope in my lifetime.. hundreds and hundreds of dollars.. I just try to stay busy these days.. so when bedtime comes I’m tired and go to bed..
I have animals that need me too.. so I don’t think about drinking or get’n high but after 26 years of not drinking I still think about it when I’m stressed.. just take one day at a time

I think I can be guilty of a little isolation myself. But I can’t be around the same people I was before at least not yet anyway
