I found a bag of my drug of choice outside my apartment just now on the pavement. I stopped to pick it up to make sure it was what I thought it was, like I’ve done a hundred times before with similar looking objects on the ground, and when I confirmed that it was what I thought it was, I knew I had to get rid of it immediately. Walked right into my apartment directly to the sink and flushed the contents down the drain (apologies if this is bad for water systems/not best practices, it was just the first impulse).
I’m proud of myself for acknowledging the need to quickly remove that ground score as an option for me today. I’m proud that I held on to the knowledge that that bag would’ve led to at least one or two more today and that relapse isn’t an option for me anymore.
I just had to share that with someone.
