I found my moms vodka this morning. We used to

I found my moms vodka this morning. We used to be drinking buddies but decided to quit together over a month ago. Shes relapsed for about a week and shes only getting worse very very fast. Ive tried every approach i can think of to get her to stop. Last night she was so drunk i was scared and wasnt sure if i had to call the hospital. Miraculously this morning she seemed completely fine. And then she seemed drunker and drunker as time went on and i knew. I took the vodka and told her i found it and that it was empty. She pretended she didnt know anything about it and told me to throw it away. Now i have vodka in my pocket and my heart is pounding. I have been getting panic attacks like crazy every single day for weeks. My health does not feel good. I am scared for my mom and scared for myself.

Get that vodka away from you asap- do you have a sponsor or sober friend you can call? Find a meeting if you can, these are the kind of challenges Recovery can help us navigate, you got this!

Lucia, I hope you are well. Im sorry to hear about your mum's struggles. Stay strong, and know she must be so proud of you. Is your mom able to go to the hospital to get help with her alcohol abuse? Maybe an addictions counselor can help with a prescription to support her staying sober. Sending love to you and your Mom.

That’s pretty heavy to carry, especially when you’re trying to stay sober too.
You don’t have to fix her to take care of you. Your panic makes sense, this is a lot. Breathe. Just focus on staying grounded today. As many know, when she’s ready she will reach out. I know it’s hard but you have to protect your sobriety. Stay strong. Dm anytime

Thank you, things seem better today, for now I’m going to encourage her to go to a meeting as that has helped in the past
