Went to my first NA meeting last night. Left with the blue book, a nice lady’s phone number, and plans to attend tonight’s meeting.

It makes so much more sense to me to group all addictions together and refer to them generally. I feel like when I say “I’m an addict”, I really mean it so much more.

It was a smaller, more intimate group. They like to give hugs like me! I felt so welcomed.

I was so scared to go after hearing negative things at first. But I’m glad I decided to try it anyway and form my own opinion.

Thank you to everyone that gave me advice about this. Feeling good today.

Yeah I don’t get the negative stuff. Never been to a meeting where I didn’t get something from it. Meetings are usually the best part of my day. Your positive experience makes me :slightly_smiling_face:.

This is a beautiful post!! The love and support I found in the rooms of AA was/is exactly what I needed/need. Meetings, steps and a sponsor are all necessary, but the fellowship is what kept me going back in the beginning. Today I have so many brothers and sisters!

Did you go to the one in Howell ? If you were coming from Lakewood, I forget the name of the road but you make a rite off of RT 9 then it’s on the left. It’s a parking lot with 5 or so little buildings . That’s the first one I went to. I have only gone a few times but I should really go more o have nobody to talk to about this which makes it even harder.

No it was in Middletown. Tonight I’m in spotswood for a 7:30. I’ve only gone to meetings in Monmouth county so far.

I’m scared to try an AA. But I guess I should go and like you form my own opinion.

Good for you. Meetings and meeting people at meetings have helped me tons. Keep it up.

You should try AA out. Your first meeting will be like the first day of school but you’ll make friends quick. People at meetings are friendly and helpful. They will teach you things that are detrimental to your recovery ❤️‍🩹

The first time I went the person running it gave me his # and said they have meetings every nite in different locations, Oakhurst ocean township area has one from what he told me some were in ocean county some were in Monmouth. I had to find one that wasn’t a closed group and allowed for someone new to come. I forget what nite the one in Howel is if I had to say I think it was a Thursday nite , they have one in Sea Side that’s open to anyone but I never went there I’m not crazy about that area if you know what I mean. Hope you had a good meeting tonight. I really need to start going. I went a few times started feeling better not so alone then stopped. I need to stay consistent. I have been clean for almost 2 months . I did go to Discovery House 10 day detox 28 day treatment if only took me 3 times to finally realize I need to stop this.

I won’t go to the ones in ocean county cause I don’t wanna bump into people that may know me from iop or around town I guess.

Guys I went to another NA meeting tonight and it was so great! Some nice peeps invited me to join them for a bite after. Perfect cause I Was able to avoid super bowl gathering at my house all night.

I know what you mean , I wouldn’t really want to bump into anyone I know either. Sounds like you had a good experience and made a few friends . That’s good , feel better that you met knew people? I need to get myself going , the last time I went was like a week n a half ago
