I fucked up our Airbnb reservation. I’m at day 44 and hanging on by a thread
Everyone makes mistakes. At least you’re sober and trying. Last Fathers Day I made a similar mistake. I wasn’t sober, and completely out of control. I was planning “weekend getaways” to partake in my addictions. Some how I got confused and got the dates and properties all F’d up. Bottom line is I arrived with my wife and kids to a property only to find out I had it booked for the following month. I had a hard time explaining this all, and was quite embarrassed. Not to mention feeling very guilty because I knew very well how it happened… because I was F’d up and planning too many things I shouldn’t have been planning.
Thank you, your story definitely made me feel better and giggle a little
Take a breath, count to 10… to me this sounds like a great adventure in the making! It’s all in your perspective. So you messed up a reservation… so what. If that’s the worst thing that happens your doing pretty good. Find a hotel. Hit some tourist traps and laugh about it. I get the stress, and frustration. I truly do, and I am not trying to lessen or dismiss your feelings. You got this. Soon enough you will look back and smile because it was such a small thing to get so stressed out about.
It’s a story only other delinquents like us can find humorous. I can’t imagine sharing this story with any “normies”.
True… my wife doesn’t get the “sobriety humor” either.
I once bought airfare for a woman to come visit me and was off by a week. Didn’t catch it in time to change the reservation. So I paid for her trip twice. Drunk and lonely and in no condition to be making plans.
Whatever your drug of choice, it will just cloud the mind and make it harder to fix the mistake.
My advice, roll with the mistake. Own it. Live through it, experience all the emotion of what has now become a spontaneous adventure.
Where are you headed for the weekend?
Thanks for sharing Craig. I got some stories brother…F’n crazy! The insanity and unmanageability off the F’n charts! It’s truly a blessing to have a choice and not have to live like that anymore

Love all these stories. I too, have messed up reservations. So boy do I get this. So crazy. Here I am yet again with 24 hours. All the lies to cover your tracks. I am grateful for another chance.
