I had a dream last night that I was drunk

I had a dream last night that I was drunk and crashed my car. (Last December that's exactly what happened in my rock bottom moment which is what brought me to sobriety.) I woke up and realized it was only a dream but I'm still feeling very shaky and scared. It felt like I relived that night again. I knew sobriety would come with many challenges but I didn't know that even when I'm sober I'd have "drunk" nights that feel so real.

I always have crazy dreams when I get sober. I wish it weren't this way.

Just a dream. Brain getting rewired us all. Hang in there. Those dreams will get way better with time.

I’ve had those dreams too. In the dream I’m so disappointed in myself. I try to use it as a reminder to never go back to that in real life. It’s awesome waking up in sobriety!

I think waking up and still being shaken and scared is a good sign your priority is being sober

Some of our experiences leave us with a mild ptsd. We learn to deal with it in a healthy manner and as we distance ourselves from that part of our past we feel less of the effects. What you went through is normal. It will fade with time.

I have dreams like that all the time. I know, it feels so real. At least it was only a dream and not a reality. Be proud of yourself and think of it as a sign of growth.

You’re not alone! I had a few really real feeling dreams early on in sobriety. Woke up in a panic. Just like I did when I drank. Trying to retrace my night… felt so crazy real!
They tend to go away as we rewire our brains.

Those dreams will happen. I’ve had them about 3 times so far. Funny thing is, I always wake up dehydrated from the dream ! Lol………… just keep the journey going !

Did you check your bed to see if there was any damage? As long as your bed didn't end up in the kitchen or something you're probably going to be okay. All kidding aside, those drunk dreams do pass. I've been sober for nearly 8 years and I haven't had any for a long time.
